Corbin Park becomes Aspen Square;
Overland Park developer hires Development Consultant
Copaken Brooks has been engaged as Development Consultant by Aspen Square Inc., the new owner of the Corbin Park development project in Overland Park, Kansas. The development will be renamed Aspen Square
under the new ownership.
“I met with a number of firms about assisting me in the development of this property,” said Mike Schlup of Aspen Square Inc., “and ultimately chose Copaken Brooks because of their longstanding relationship with the City of Overland Park, their retail development experience, and their history with this project.”
Copaken Brooks will assist Aspen Square with city approvals and site plan design. Regarding his firm’s experience and qualifications for this project, Keith Copaken cites a number of development projects Copaken Brooks has completed in Overland Park, including the Nordstrom expansion of Oak Park Mall, the Zurich corporate headquarters building, the initial zoning of the Corbin Park site for a large upscale regional center, as well as a number of other office and retail projects across the city. “We have a solid relationship with the City of Overland Park,” Mr. Copaken said, “and we have done a fair amount of development in the city. We are excited to be working with Mr. Schlup on the Aspen Square project.”
Aspen Square Inc. took ownership on November 29, 2011 of approximately 39 acres of land, a completed 2-level parking structure, and Phase I shops consisting of 197,503 square feet of buildings under construction at Corbin Park. The 96-acre mixed-use development is anchored by Von Maur, JCPenney, and Lifetime Fitness, all open and operating.
Located on the southeast quadrant of 135th Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas, Aspen Square is positioned at a key intersection in one of the most dynamic and sought-after consumer markets in the United States. With a trade area that includes Overland Park and several other suburbs in affluent Johnson County, the area enjoys population growth rates and household incomes well above the national average.
