Biography
Emily is responsible for the day-to-day operations and financial performance of approximately 400,000 square feet of office and retail space. She administers both gross and net leases, supervises the maintenance and engineering staff, develops the scope of work for vendor contracts and capital projects, conducts the bidding process and contract awards, and ensures compliance to specifications.
Emily recently managed a $300,000 capital improvement project for a 100 year old retail center adjacent to the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Improvements included replacing building electrical service, structural upgrades, major plumbing repairs and a facelift to improve the aesthetics and marketability of the project.
Copaken Brooks has recently taken over third party management for the Hanson family, which comprises a portion of Westport in Kansas City, Missouri and has become an additional management responsibility for Emily. The project is comprised of approximately 48,000 square feet of boutique retail space and unique restaurants. Emily sits on both Westport Area Community Improvement District Boards, CID I and CID II, as well as the board for the Westport Regional Business League.
Emily graduated Magna Cum Laude University of Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Real Estate and Finance & Banking. She holds both a Kansas and Missouri Real Estate Salespersons license and has a Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). Emily also holds her Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management.
